Weddings and Baby's Breath 2.0

I recently jumped on the Pinterest bus {thanks to Courtenay!} and one of my first boards turned out to be a winter wedding inspiration. Which then took the jump to this:

 I was just having a conversation with Courtenay about using baby's breath in centerpieces. I am totally in love with this. I feel like it's a fluffy cloud that I want to curl up on. While I was going with a winter theme the more I searched the more versatile it became. BTW - I totally posted about using baby's breath in 2008.  Hello ahead of the curve. hehe.

Vintage:

Modern-ish:
Romantic:
{There's something so right about baby's breath and candle light.}
Whimsical:

Ceremony:

Bouquets:

{This is still my favorite}

But please, let's not go here:

Just like carnations, I think baby's breath is one of those flowers that you should use in large quantities, on their own. Let's keep it in the twenty-first century, k?

{{And if you jump to my pinterest board be patient, I'm just getting started!}}

Royal Wedding Inspiration Comes Alive in Cincinnati

I received a phone call last Friday morning from our local news station {WCPO} that went something like this:

Me: ::Piping icing on cupcakes:: How can I help you?
News: We received your name from several people who recommended you for a segment around the royal wedding. Are you interested?
Me: Of course :::jumping up and down:::
News: Great! We will shoot Monday at 11:00 a.m.
Me: Like Monday, Monday? The one that's 3 days away and one of those days is a holiday?
News: Yes, can you do it?
Me: Of course! I'll have everything ready to go Monday morning

:::::hangs up the phone:::: WHOA!

So, I called my good friend Courtenay of Courtenay Lambert Florals and asked her if she was up for the challenge. And thankfully she was. From there Ileana of Sugar Realm jumped on board for the cake, Kristen of Poeme had amazing invitations, All Occasions stepped in and hooked us up with tons of linens and rentals, A Touch of Summer signed on the make us beautiful and Kortnee Kate turned a news story into a full fledged photo shoot. Whew!

But wait - we didn't have a location!! Step in, Amy Rubenstein, a realtor with sibcy cline, and she had the.most.perfect home for sale that we could shoot in. I would like to move to Moon Valley Lane now.

And this is what we produced. In 3 days. Ah-maz-ing.

 The segment is now on WCPO's website. Check out my 30 seconds of fame...many more photos and details to come!

Mad love to my ladies who made this happen. You are all rock-stars and I'd be honored to have you on my team for any wedding, at any time. Thank you. x infinity.

Centerpiece Thread on Project Wedding

I stumbled on this great thread in the boards on Project Wedding. If you haven't been to Project Wedding make sure you stop over there. There's a wealth of information and the brides are really responsive to each other.

This particular thread is "centerpieces - how much?" - what bride hasn't asked that? Pop on over and check it out. And if you're feeling extra helpful add your response to the list! And because you cannot post without a picture here's one of  the first posts on the board:

"I am doing this! well sorta. I bought the candelabras at hobby lobby for $12.50 a piece, but mine only have three stems i guess you would call it and my florist will put flowers into the candle holders" Shoot - think I need to page Cassie and let her know I just quoted her on my blog???

Inspiration

Where do you get your inspiration? It's such a common question that can yield such uncommon responses. For me, I find a lot of inspiration just from talking with people. I love to hear their stories and what makes them..them. I'm also a blog jumper {I need help with this addiction - you can see some of my fave blogs here} and go to a lot of hostess sites.

But nothing inspires me more than walking into a home decor store. I walk into Pottery Barn and swooooon. Think about it - they basically have multiple revolving tablescapes set up in their stores. Now take a look at your inspiration folder and tell me how many pictures are of tables and table decor...I'm betting a lot. So take a moment and think outside the box, step into home goods and browse their vases - do any of the colors or shapes jump out at you? Or a fabric store - oh the surprises there. And don't even get me started on Ikea....okok get me started! After a millisecond google "ikea wedding" search I pulled up this:

Helloooo future centerpiece at one of my dinner parties. Even better - here's how they put it together. {ps - I'm pretty sure I've seen this picture all over wedding blogs. Lovin it}

Here's some fab pics from some home decor sites:

{pottery barn}

PPS - totally check  out the ikea haker blog - it's added to my reader.

Don't call me a bumble bee (or a steelers fan...)

Sometimes when I'm blog jumping something just catches my eye. Today it was this:

Event Design and Description by Lollipop Events and Designs, Photography by Cary Pennington {via Accent the Party}

Which then reminded me of these {from this post forever ago}

Apparently I'm a fan of black and yellow. But not when it comes to football.... ;)

Who would have thought....

think outside the box...think outside the box...think outside the box...

Two 'you have GOT to be kidding me - that's brillant' ideas to dress up your table:

Numero 1: Tile Sheets: yes you heard that right, tile sheets. 12x12 mesh mounted mosaic tile sheets come in several different colors and can be purchased at your local tile shop. Lay each sheet flat as a table runner or cut the sheets into strips to fit your desired size.

Numero 2: Wallpaper. Yep, the kind you find at a home improvement store. That's the one. Project Wedding has a great article on how to incorperate it.

CP of the week

Simple and elegant and makes a huge impact. Love it.

Paper-wrapped cylinder candle-holders of varying heights are arranged among clear square vases holding phalaenopsis orchids. Some of the vases were dusted with feathers; some studded with crystals; some wound with snowy angora yarn; and some woven with white satin ribbon.

POP

Sometime simple equals stunning. And sometimes you just need a little 'pop'! I thought I'd post some inspiration for little pops of color. I know a lot of TC brides are working on their final centerpiece selections so on with the inspiration! Happy Planning!

Easy = cut limes and hydrangeas {and easy on the budget!}

Simple = colored table numbers.

Elegant = wrapped cylinders with beautiful colors and simple roses

Creative = graphic images with simple flowers

Pop = colored menus and tinted water

P.S. all the looks above are achievable using the TC inventory! Gotta love that :)
