Katie & Ryan

The first of a long run of weddings for us! Katie and Ryan were married May 24th and it was fabulous! Like many of our couples they planned their wedding from afar. First from Hawaii then from D.C. They are both such calm and endearing people and their love between each other is inspiring. Since Katie was in D.C. I had the great opportunity to work closely with her mother, Lisa. Katie - mad props to your mom because she is amazing. I'm a little jealous ;)

Meet our evening's vendors:
Reception Venue: Queen City Club {omg love!}
Photog: Steph Carson
Florist: Summer with Jones the Florist
Cake: Marilyn's {Love the funfetti cake!}
Makeup: Nancy with Brideface
{Insert standard disclaimer of how bad my pics are....}

I have been waiting for someone to use a typewriter as a guest book. Bonus points because it was the bride's grandfathers. Love personalization!

So I LOVE the Queen City Club. Seriously check it out if you haven't booked a venue. It's like having your wedding at a grand house that you don't have to clean up!

Cocktail hour and dancing are held in this room {same room in the next 2 pics}

Then you travel down this hall to the dining room for dinner

Congrats Katie and Ryan! We had a blast - thanks for allowing us to play a role in your wedding day!

P.S. The food at the QCC was ah-maz-ing. Seriously the best wedding food we've had. sooooo good!

{stay tuned for professional teasers from Steph!}

Goodbye Simply Timeless...Hello Kortnee Kate!

Rick and I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing Ted and Kortnee Miller from Simply Timeless Photography for over 3 years now. Not only did they shoot our wedding {fabulously I might add} but we've had the honor of being able to call them our true friends. So when they decided to give their company a little makeover we were behind them all the way. After much deliberation they settled on the new name: Kortnee Kate Photography.

Hello fabulousness.

In true Miller style they had to have a huge dance party launch shindig. With help from Courtenay Lambert Florals, DJ Toad, Funky's Catering, Allison from Aviva Events and yours truly we rocked it. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting Kortnee Kate!

Check out their new site and I promise you'll fall for them just like we did so many years ago!

My fabulous counterpart {and someone else who over-uses the word fabulous. Love it}

Kort the supermodel

Meet Bo. Rick's best friend. We're a package deal.

The always-adorable Courtenay Lambert. Love the bangs.

Let the dance party begin!

Ted is always doing something goofy. Exhibit A:

Oh Martha....

I *finally* got around to reading the latest Martha Stewart Weddings {Spring 2009} and I loved so many things in it! I was motivated to check out the online template pages and wanted to share. It's a fabulous resource for those of you taking the DIY approach {and in this economy, who isn't?!} Check out some of the "Spring Good Things". Thanks Martha!

Real leaves and paper magnolias. Genius!

How cute is this?! Can you not just see your flower girl coming down the aisle with this?

Anyone else get bored when they sit at their table waiting for the bride and groom? How fantastic would it be to have this little lovely waiting for you? Even cuter with monogrammed pencils. {How to instructions}
